New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor responded to the controversial remarks praising Prime Minister Modi and the LDF government in Kerala. While stating that he is still available to the party, he issued a warning. He cautioned that if the party thinks he is no longer needed, he has other options available. He spoke to this effect on the "I Malayali" podcast. Recently, in his article, Tharoor showered praise on Kerala's startup policy and Modi's meeting with US President Trump. His remarks gained significant attention in political circles.

In this context, he addressed the controversy. "There is a leadership vacuum in Kerala Congress. My opinions on this matter have been supported by other party leaders. To attract new voters, Congress needs to expand its base. I am ahead of everyone in the race for state leadership, as shown in some polls. If Congress does not expand its influence, it will end up sitting in the opposition for a third consecutive term in the next elections," he clarified.

He explained that he spoke for the broader interests of the nation and the state, and not just for party interests. He made it clear that it is not always possible for him to speak solely for the party's benefit. He said he would never limit himself and called for the expansion of the party by attracting new voters ahead of next year’s assembly elections in Kerala. Shashi Tharoor stated that he is qualified for the position of Kerala Chief Minister, noting that several opinion polls also support this view.
